Business of Caring: A Child Care Licensing Support Program

Business of Caring is a new thread initiative designed to support Alaskans in creating and licensing their own child care program. Participants receive access to materials, resources, and personalized support, as well as stipends to help cover a variety of startup costs. By combining practical tools with financial relief, Business of Caring empowers educators to successfully meet licensing requirements and build strong, sustainable child care businesses that serve Alaska’s children and families.

This opportunity is made possible with initial funding from the State of Alaska’s PDG B-5, grant #90TP0103. This funding ends December 31, 2025.

Enrollment Instructions

Prepare to Enroll for Support

Use a computer desktop or laptop with the Google Chrome web browser.
Download Chrome here
Download and complete an IRS Form W9 here.

Translate the Enrollment Form

Open the application using Google Chrome web browser.
Anywhere on the application form, right click for a drop-down menu.
From the drop-down menu, select “Translate to.”
Choose the preferred translation language.

Upload Signed IRS Form W9

Available resources could include a $500 stipend to help cover the cost of required inspections, trainings, and background checks. We must have a SIGNED IRS W9 form for individuals receiving stipends. Please upload a signed and completed IRS Form W9 at the bottom of this section.

IRS Form W-9 is a legal document and must be free of any errors. To avoid mistakes, delays, or denial of your application, please ensure your W-9 form is completed neatly and accurately. Use only blue or black ink, or complete the form digitally. Do not scribble, scratch out, write over, erase, use white-out, or spill anything on the form. If an error occurs, please download a new blank W-9 and start again.

Accepted file types include PDF, JPEG or PNG files. All images must be legible. Blurry or illegible images will not be accepted.
